Hydrant Flushing Continues

Rochelle Municipal Utilities is continuing their monthly hydrant flushing project. The fire hydrants are opened and allowed to run in an effort to circulate water in the underground water mains. RMU Water Operators will be flushing hydrants today from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm in the center of town.

RMU reminds water service customers that they may experience some discoloration in the water supply for a short period of time following the work. We advise customers to open cold water faucets for several minutes until the water becomes clear to insure all of the discoloration has been removed. Customers are reminded not to launder clothing in water that has been discolored, since the clothing may become stained.

Water Line Insurance Program Available

RMU is partnering with Service Line Warranties to offer customers a new water line repair insurance program. The program covers costs of repairing water lines on the homeowner’s property.

While our community spends a significant amount of money each year to upgrade our water and sewer systems, these upgrades do not address the water line located on private property. Homeowners can be responsible for thousands of dollars in repair costs for a broken or leaking water line on their property.

The insurance program, offered through Service Line Warranties of America provides repair coverage for your outside water line.

Beginning the week of September 6, RMU customers will receive a letter and registration form with details and instructions via mail. Customers may contact Service Line Warranties with questions at 1-855-535-7141.
